About Darkness INK: An Interview with the Founder

Q: What is Darkness INK?

A: Darkness INK is a place for writers and creators who love exploring the darker side of fiction, games, and art. It’s a platform where the slightly weird and wonderfully eerie come to life, offering a home for alternative media that doesn’t shy away from shadows. AI is also a core part of how we work—not as a replacement for creativity but as a tool to enhance and streamline it.

Q: How did Darkness INK get started?

A: Last summer, I hit a wall of boredom—a real existential kind of boredom. I had this stack of stray ideas and unfinished projects just gathering dust. That’s when I thought, “Hey, can AI help me pull this together into a book?” Spoiler: it couldn’t—not by itself, at least.

But as I worked on The Corrupted Universe RPG, it reminded me of an old joke among friends about starting a creative company called Darkness INK. We used to sit around brainstorming wild stories and game ideas. So, in a way, this is a resurrection of that spirit—now with more coffee and less free time.

Q: What makes Darkness INK different?

A: For one, we embrace AI as part of our creative process instead of fearing it. Secondly, we lean into the ALT side of things—fiction and games that are darker, weirder, and just a little offbeat. If it’s unconventional or slightly twisted, that’s exactly where we want to be.

Q: What inspires the worlds you create?

A: The people I’ve met along the way. While the worlds might have a distinct style, they’re really a patchwork of stories, experiences, and influences from all kinds of folks. It’s about creating spaces where everyone can see a piece of themselves represented—somewhere, somehow.

Q: What can people find at Darkness INK?

A:

  1. TTRPG Content: Dive into The Corrupted Universe and other upcoming adventures.

  2. Dark Fantasy Novels: Lose yourself in imaginative, immersive stories.

  3. Art & Design: Stunning visuals that bring our creations to life.

  4. Merchandise: Dice, books, prints, and more.

  5. Community: A space for creators, players, and fans to share, connect, and grow.

Q: Who is behind Darkness INK?

A: For now, it’s just me, Josh Davidson. I’ve got a talented team of collaborators helping out on different projects, but Darkness INK is largely fueled by coffee, stubbornness, and the occasional burst of creativity.

Q: How can people get involved?

A: That’s a work in progress. For now, you can start by exploring our content, joining the community, or even just dropping a message if you have ideas or feedback. The goal is to eventually have a way for writers, artists, and gamers to contribute and collaborate directly.

Q: What’s next for Darkness INK?

A: Merchandising! Merchandising! Because when writer’s block hits, you’ve got to keep the coffee pot running somehow. More seriously, the focus is on continuing to push out stories, campaigns, and tools to help other creators find their voices.

Closing Note

This whole thing started as an inside joke, and I want more people to be in on it. If you’re here, you’re part of the joke now. Welcome to Darkness INK.
